Choose Search from the DesignCenter toolbar to open the Search window, shown in Figure 26-2. The DesignCenter includes a Search feature to help you. Finding named components and drawings What do you do if you don’t know the location of the drawing that you want? Suppose you know the name of the layer, but not the name of the drawing that contains that layer. ✦ The History tab displays the most recently opened drawings. To narrow your search, you can click two other tabs from the DesignCenter: ✦ The Open Drawings tab displays currently open drawings. By default, the navigation pane displays your desktop, including the files and folders on your hard drive and network. After you narrow your search, you may want to click Tree View Toggle to toggle off the tree view, thus hiding the navigation pane. Click Description to display a description, if one is saved. Click Preview on the DesignCenter toolbar to see a preview in the pre- view pane of blocks, drawings, and raster images. Then click a component type, such as blocks, to see a list of the blocks in the drawing, as shown in Figure 26-1.

This tree view is very similar to that of Windows Explorer. The Folders tab displays a tree view of any location- your hard drive, network, or the Internet - that you can access. Four tabs provide access to folders, open drawings, history, and DC Online, where you can find content provided by Autodesk, manufacturers, and other users. The DesignCenter appears as shown in Figure 26-1. Navigating with the DesignCenter To open the DesignCenter, choose DesignCenter from the Standard toolbar, or choose Tools➪ Palettes ➪ DesignCenter. ✦ View and insert raster image files by dragging them into the drawing area. ✦ Open drawings by dragging them into the drawing area. ✦ Search for drawings and named drawing components. ✦ Create shortcuts to drawings and locations that you use most often. You can also access custom objects that are created by third-party applications. Click Insert tab Import panel Recognize SHX Text.868 Part V ✦ Organizing and Managing Drawings You can do the following with the DesignCenter: ✦ Browse and insert named drawing components, including blocks (and dynamic blocks), xrefs, layers, text styles, table styles, dimension styles, linetypes, and layouts.Once you're satisfied with your settings, the process for converting SHX geometry into multiline text becomes much simpler: Lower the success threshold percent in the PDF Text Recognition Settings dialog box.Select a different font that might be a better match.This can help you identify problems and extraneous geometry. If none of the fonts pass the threshold try one of the following: If the threshold percent that you set is not achieved, then the next font that you specified on the list is processed. The characters that were converted are highlighted. Be careful to avoid selecting any objects that are not part of the characters.Ī dialog box reports the percent of the objects that could not be converted to multiline text.
